2014 NCAA GYMNASTICS CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Utes will begin competition at the 2014 NCAA Championships on Friday, Apr. 18 in Birmingham, Ala., at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC). Utah will compete in the evening semifinal, which starts at 7 p.m. CT (6 p.m. MT). The afternoon session starts at 1 p.m. CT and the top three finishers from both semifinals will advance to the Super Six on Saturday, Apr. 19 at 6 p.m. CT (5 p.m. MT). Individual event finals are scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 20 at 2 p.m. CT (1 p.m. MT). Friday's semifinal sessions will be streamed live on www.ncaa.com. Utah is making a record 39th-consecutive appearance at the national championships and is also the only program to qualify for all 33 NCAA Championships. The Utes have won a record-tying 10 national championships.
In Utah's semifinal on Apr. 18 are four of the five teams ever to win an NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championship: Utah has nine NCAA titles (10 total, including the 1981 AIAW Championship), Florida won its first national title in 2013, and UCLA and Alabama have both won six NCAA Championships. Completing the evening session is Penn State. The afternoon session contains Oklahoma, LSU, Stanford, Georgia, Michigan and Illinois. For information on all of the teams, see the sidebars on page 5.
Utah co-head coach Greg Marsden
became college gymnastics' first 1000-win coach on Feb. 7, 2014 with Utah's victory at Arizona State. In his 39th season, Marsden is 1,016-202-7. Megan Marsden
, in her fifth season as co-head coach and 30th season overall, earned her 100th career victory at the 2014 NCAA Regionals. She is 100-41-1. The Marsdens shared the Pac-12 Coach of the Year honor in 2014--the first Utah coaches to win the league's top coaching honor in the school's three years in the Pac-12.
The 2014 Utes have a school-record nine All-Americans on their 13-member roster ... @utahgymnastics won the 2014 Pac-12 Championship in Berkeley, Calif., for the school's first Pac-12 title ... The Utes will meet UCLA for the fifth time this season and the fourth time in the last five meets in the NCAA semifinals ... Utah is 3-1 against the Bruins this season, including wins at the Pac-12 and NCAA Regional championships ... The Utes have not faced any of the other four teams in their semi this season ... Utah's semifinal rotation of bars, beam, bye, floor, vault and bye is identical to its regional rotation, other than the position of one bye ... Utah's best score of the season was a 198.025 vs. Georgia on Mar. 15 ... The Utes have scored a 197.00 or better in their last 10 meets ... The Utes will fly to Atlanta on Wednesday, Apr. 16 and bus to Birmingham ... Utah will practice in the BJCC on Thursday, Apr. 17 from 3:15-5:01 p.m. CT.
FOR THE RECORD
Utah gymnastics led all women's sports in attendance in 2014, averaging an NCAA gymnastics-record 14,376 to its home meets to finish ahead of Alabama gymnastics (12,826) and Tennessee women's basketball (11,600). It is Utah's fourth all-sports women's attendance title (the Utes also won in 2010, 2011 and 2013) and its 30th gymnastics attendance championship ... Utah's 22-3 overall record includes a 10-3 regular-season mark (6-1 Pac-12), a 7-0 mark at the Pac-12 Championships and a 5-0 record at the NCAA Regional.
LEADERS OF THE PAC
Utah cleaned up in its third season in the Pac-12, winning the Pac-12 Championship, capturing three individual titles and the all-around, and sweeping the major awards. Coaches Greg and Megan Marsden
were named the Pac-12 Coach of the Year, Tory Wilson
was the Gymnast of the Year and Georgia Dabritz
won Specialist of the Year. Wilson was the Pac-12 all-around champion, while Dabritz won vault and bars and tied for first on floor with Nansy Damianova

Utah has the nation's top-ranked floor lineup with a 49.565 RQS ... The Utes finished the regular season ranked No. 5 overall, No. 3 on vault (49.510), No. 4 on bars (49.435) and tied for No. 9 on beam (49.175) ... Entering postseason play, Georgia Dabritz
was ranked No. 1 in the nation on the uneven bars (9.95 RQS). Dabritz was ranked No. 1 on bars in seven of the 11 regular season polls ... Tory Wilson
and Kailah Delaney
tied for No. 2 in the final vault rankings (9.945 RQS). Wilson was ranked No. 1 on vault five weeks this season and Delaney four times.
A Ute has won or tied for first in every floor exercise competition this season, while winning bars in 11 of 12 meets and vault 10 times ... Georgia Dabritz
has won or tied for first on bars 10 times ... Nansy Damianova
is a three-time NCAA Regional floor champ (2011, 2013, 2014). She also won an NCAA regional vault title in 2011 ... Utah has 10 scores of 9.975 or better this season--seven from Dabritz, two from Tory Wilson
and one from Damianova ... Utah has three 10.0's in 2014: Dabritz (bars and floor) and Damianova (floor). Both of Dabritz's perfect scores came on the road.

Five teams have combined to win every NCAA Championship to date: Georgia (10), Utah (9), UCLA (6), Alabama (6) and Florida (1). Including the 1981 AIAW title, Utah is tied with Georgia for most total national championships (10) ... There have been nine different runners-up at the NCAA Championship since its debut in 1982: Utah (7), Alabama (7), Arizona State (4), Georgia (4), UCLA (4), Michigan (2), Florida (2), Oklahoma (2) and Cal State-Fullerton (1) ... The closest NCAA Championships were in 1994 (Utah 196.400, Alabama 196.350) and 1989 (Georgia 192.650, UCLA 192.600) ... The highest score ever at nationals was UCLA's 198.125 in 2004 ... The NCAA champion has won its qualifying session 18 times in 21 years under the present Super Six format: Georgia in 1993, 1998, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009; Alabama in 1996, 2002, 2011 and 2012; UCLA in 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2010; and Florida in 2013 ... Utah won the NCAA title in 1994 and 1995, after finishing second and third, respectively, in the qualifying round. UCLA took first place in 1997 after placing second in the semifinals.
