Four Utah gymnasts earned All-America honors and three qualified to compete in the NCAA Event Finals on Sunday, Apr. 20 at 1 p.m. MT. Georgia Dabritz won first-team All-America recognition on vault and was second team on bars, Nansy Damianova and Becky Tutka were both first team on floor, and Lia Del Priore was a second-team All-American on floor.
Dabritz will represent the Utes on vault in Sunday's event finals, while both Tutka and Damianova will compete on floor. Dabritz, a junior, has now qualified for event finals all three years. This is Damianova's second time in finals, while Tutka makes her first appearance.
Dabritz is competing in vault finals for the second time in her career after scoring a 9.925 on Friday in team semifinals. She finished 10th on vault as a freshman. Her best NCAA finish came last year on bars, when she took second in the nation.
Damianova makes her second-straight appearance in the NCAA floor finals after finishing eighth on the event in 2013. She also finished ninth on bars last year. Damianova and Tutka both scored 9.925s on Friday to earn a berth in the floor finals.
Dabritz is now a 10-time All-American after adding five All-America honors this season, including three regular-season awards. Damianova finishes her career as a five-time All-American (includes two 2014 regular season awards) and Tutka has increased her All-America portfolio to four, with one of her two this season coming in the regular season. Del Priore closes her career with her first All-America plaque.
The Utes, who are the only program to qualify for 39-straight national championships and all 33 NCAA Championships, will return nine letterwinners and six All-Americans in 2015.
