Katie Taylor notched a goal for Utah this weekend

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah soccer continued its spring season with a split this past weekend against Weber State and Wyoming.
"We played harder this weekend and everyone got a chance to get out there," head coach Rich Manning stated. "We are still in the developmental stages so we're working on getting everyone up to speed. Another big positive was having Cheyanne Mulcock back for the first time since the fall.
The Utes struck first when Katie Taylor scored in the eighth minute for a 1-0 lead against the Wildcats. The junior dribbled down the sideline and sent a cross toward the goal which eventually found its way in the back of the net. Weber State responded with two goals to earn the victory.
"We kept the ball a lot against Wyoming and forced them into low-pressure situations," Manning added. "Our backs, goalkeepers and midfielders did what we asked of them."
Taylor set up Nielsen's first goal with a penetrating run and cross. Nieslen showed great composure in the box and was able to turn and fire for the 1-0 lead. The second goal occurred when Avery Jenkins' corner kick was volleyed home from eight yards by the sophomore.
"Baylee played very well, obviously, and created chances for our offense," Manning said. "Ali Forsberg entered at halftime and worked hard. She was able to create havoc by getting in dangerous spaces."
"I thought this was our best effort of the spring because we played with a focused energy," Manning stated. "We came into the game with the right mindset and overall, we were sharp in our buildup. We maintained possession well in the midfield but need to continue working on our attacking third."
