Grand Junction, Colo. - Utah soccer headed into the off-season on a strong note after defeating Denver, 1-0, to conclude its spring schedule.
Ali Forsbergdrove to the end-line and crossed the ball across the ground. Her attempt was deflected into the net by a Pioneer player for a 1-0 Utah lead.
"We played four or five players for the complete 90 minutes," head coach Rich Manning said. "Lindsey Luke notched a shutout and offensively, Ali had a really good game and created two or three chances. Nykell Seymour played 45-straight minutes so we upped her regimen. The same can be said about Audrey Gibbas she played a full 90."
The Utes start the fall season on August 22 and will be attempting to reach the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row. This past year, the Utes had their best finish since joining the Pac-12, going 10-5-6.
"I thought we were able to dictate play against good teams and forced them to adjust," Coach Manning said when speaking about the spring. "Kaycee Buckley, Katie Taylor, Avery Jenkins and Katie Rigby have become the foundation for our team in the midfield. Some players were able to take advantage of playing time. As far as things we need to work on, I'd say staying hungry and finiding consistent creators."
