Recap |  Box Score

Utah Head Coach Rich Manning
On the series with BYU and beating their rival
"Every time play BYU it's a battle, there's drama, and there is great soccer involved. It's always physical and to walk away from a game like that always feels really good."

On the play of Lindsey Luke in goal
"Lindsey has been carrying an injury since our first game but we told her to be ready just in case. It was great for us that she was. She played a great game. To come out in her first collegiate game and do that, after not being able to train, and play in front of our biggest crowd ever...to come in and play with confidence really says a lot about her character.

On playing with, and protecting, the lead
"There were some things we did well and others we didn't. We are very happy for the win and we have some valuable lessons to carry forward. I'm sure we will be in tight games where we have to defend a lot. We will take what we did well today and then fix the things we didn't do well."

What attributed to the slow start?
"A lot of nerves. In a rivalry game like this and with this crowd...for six or seven of our players this was thier first experience in a game like this. And for some of them it was their first collegiate game ever.

On the team not backing down from a physical game
"I expect this team to rise to challenges, I think that's the character of the team. But with so many players who haven't been in this position before I wasn't sure, so it was great to see and it really reinforced what I thought about them."

Redshirt Freshman Goalkeeper Lindsey Luke
On having to come in unexpectedly
"I was prepared, I had to be, just in case. I didn't think I was going to go in but when I did, I said `I have to do this for the team, for [injured starting goalkeeper Cheyanne Mulcock] and for all the girls who [medically] can't play anymore.' I really wanted this for my team. They have been there for me through my hardships, through training and transferring [from Wake Forest]. I really I felt like I had to do this for my team."

On responding to the moment in her first rivalry game with BYU
"I love big games. I have been out for a while so I had a little bit of nerves. But it just means so much to me that the school, the fans, my team and coaches are so supportive. That really gave me the confidence to do it. I knew this was going to be a big game, BYU is the huge rivalry so I expected a tough game. All credit to my team, there could have been a lot more shots. The adrenaline, being out there, it was incredible."
