COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Sophomore Amanda Feigt scored two goals and senior Julie Herdic contributed two assists as Utah shutout Air Force 4-0 on Thursday evening at Cadet Soccer Stadium.

Utah (8-4-2, 1-1-1 MWC) outshot the Falcons 21-9, had an overwhelming 12-4 edge in shots on goal and set up four corner kicks. Air Force (3-10-1, 0-3-0 MWC) came up empty on six corners.

After being held scoreless in its last three games, Utah exploded for a season-high four goals. Defensively, the Utes posted their fifth shutout of the season. What made Utah's defensive performance even more impressive was that starting goalkeeper Ashley Mason came down with the flu and wasn't able to play. Senior Glennis Donnelly, who hadn't played since Sept. 5, made four saves for her second shutout of the year.

Feigt got the Utes on the board in the 17th minute, getting an open net goal after a deflected shot. Hailey Marsh, from nearby Centennial, Colo., was credited with the assist.

Chelsea Card got her fifth goal of the season 37:42 into the game. The freshman from Sam Clemente, Calif., punched a shot past Jennifer Drew from 10 yards away after taking a cross from Herdic, expanding the Ute lead to 2-0.

Utah added two goals in the final 18 minutes. Feigt scored her fifth goal of the season in the 73rd minute. Kim Lloyd set up Fiegt for the shot, which she blasted past the keeper from 10 yards out. Carisse Winegar scored the Utes' fourth goal with 9:34 remaining after taking another excellent cross from Herdic.

"It was really nice to see us put the ball in the net and get on the board," said Ute head coach Rich Manning. "I thought our offensive rhythm and our attacking plays in general were very good. We created a lot of chances. It was great to see Amanda get a couple of goals again, and Julie Herdic gave us a nice lift off the bench with a couple of nice crosses. Glennis Donnelly, under the circumstances, was outstanding. Early in the game, Air Force got away a several shots and put the pressure on her, and she was solid."

Utah returns home to take on Utah Valley State College on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Ute Field. The Utes' senior class will be honored before the game.
