SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah soccer team will play a seven-game exhibition schedule this spring that will include four games at Ute Field, the team announced this week. Admission to all spring home games is free of charge.
"This spring is unique because we have so many players returning for next fall," said head coach Rich Manning. "The winter workouts have been intense and competitive. Players are battling for their place on the team and there has been good development. We can't wait to get back into some games so we can measure ourselves and continue to improve. We also have a couple of players returning from injury who will benefit from some game time as well."
The Utes will kick off their spring training season with a 7:30 p.m. MT home game against Westminster on March 21, then head to Las Vegas for a March 23 match at UNLV. Utah State then comes to Ute Field for a 7 p.m. match on March 29. Utah will head to Provo on April 13 for a double-header, where the Utes will face Utah Valley and BYU.
April 20 will be a full day of soccer at the U. with four teams in action. Utah will take on Wyoming at 10 a.m. at Ute Field, while Utah State faces Idaho State at the McCarthy Track Field. Utah State will then square off with Wyoming at 3 p.m. on Ute Field, followed by the final match of the day, when the Utes battle Wyoming at 5 p.m.
