WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - The University of Utah soccer team has been picked to finish seventh in the Pac-12 Conference this season, according to a preseason poll of the league's coaches, released today.
The Utes are coming off their sixth trip to the NCAA Championships and placed third in the conference last year, their best finish since joining in 2011.
UCLA, the reigning national champion, was selected as the preseason favorite to win the 2014 Pac-12 title. Stanford was the only other team to receive a first-place vote and was picked second. Behind them were California, USC, Colorado, Washington State and the Utes.
Utah kicks off the regular season in 10 days with a road contest at Oral Roberts. The first home game for the Utes will be Friday, August 29 against Boise State at 7:30 p.m.
Utah also plays nine games on television this season and four of those matches will be home contests at Ute Field. The slate includes the Pac-12 opener against Stanford on Sept. 26 at 3 p.m. MT. Additional home matches to be carried on Pac-12 Networks are against BYU (Sept. 5 at 5 p.m. MT), Arizona (Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. MT) and Arizona State (Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. MT).
