On preparation for the season - "I'm very pleased with our progress through the preseason. Most of the players came in fit. The team has worked hard and I think we've laid the foundation for a good season. We've had some injuries that have slowed our training schedule, but I have confidence that we'll attack this weekend's games aggressively and give a good account of ourselves."
On this weekend's games - "Playing in the Santa Clara adidas Classic helps us in so many ways. We get tremendous feedback early in the season and will find out what we need to do to reach our highest goals for the year. We get to play two terrific teams, which will get the competitive juices flowing right away. Buck Shaw Stadium is one of the truly great places to play in college soccer. And we have several players from California who get to play in front of family and friends. It will be a great experience that we can draw from for the rest of the season."
