SALT LAKE CITY - Freshman second baseman Hannah Flippen had two hits, while senior designated player Taylor Jordan and freshman shortstop Anissa Urtez both drove in runs, but the University of Utah softball team dropped its series finale to third-ranked Oregon by a 14-3 score in five innings on Monday at Utah Softball Stadium.

Utah (11-12, 1-4 Pac-12) was led by two base hits by Flippen, who singled down the right-field in the third and knocked a base hit to right-center field in Utah's fifth frame. The Bonita, Calif., native has posted two or more hits in 11 different games this season, which has her tied with junior left fielder Kate Dickman for team-high honors in 2014. Flippen is now second on the team with 35 hits this season.

Jordan knocked an RBI single to right field in the fourth frame and now has seven hits and four RBI in 2014, while Urtez's double to right field in the fifth frame was her team-high 22nd RBI of the year.

Sophomore right-hander Kayce Nieto made her 19th appearance of the season, but fell to 6-9 in pitching decisions this season. Freshman Sammy Cordova and junior Mariah Ramirez also came on in relief.

After Oregon put up a run in the top of the first, the Utes tied the game in their half of the second inning as Urtez drew a leadoff walk. She advanced to second base after a one-out single to left-center field by Stewart that put Utes on the corners. Urtez came around to tie the game after an Oregon error.

The Ducks scored seven runs in the third frame as the Utes responded with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Stewart launched a fly ball to left field and advanced to second base after the Oregon error. Jordan then stepped up and drove an RBI single to right field to plate Stewart. She now has seven hits this season to go with four RBI.

Oregon turned in six more runs in the fifth inning. Flippen started a two-out rally for the Utes in the bottom half of the frame with a single to right field before Urtez connected for a double to plate Flippen for Utah's third score of the contest and set the final margin.

No. 3 Oregon (26-3, 3-0 Pac-12) received a 5.0-inning, five-hit effort from starter Cheridan Hawkins, who yielded one run while striking out 10.
