SALT LAKE CITY - Junior left fielder Kate Dickman had three hits and drove in two runs to help the University of Utah softball team pick up an 8-2 win over Oregon State on Friday in the opening game of a Pac-12 Conference series at Utah Softball Stadium.

Utah (13-15, 2-7 Pac-12) totaled 13 hits on the night and did not commit an error in the field, while Oregon State came up with eight hits and was charged two errors.

In her 13th multi-hit game of the year and her sixth game with two or more runs driven in, Dickman had two doubles and a single. She leads the Utah roster with 43 hits this season and is tied for second on the team with 19 RBI.

Freshman shortstop Anissa Urtez, freshman first baseman Bridget Castro and sophomore catcher Shelby Pacheco each turned in two-hit performances as well.

Urtez also drove in one run and is third on the squad with 31 hits this season and has 11 multi-hit performances.

Castro is now enjoying a team-high three-game hit streak and drove in a pair of runs, her third multi-RBI outing of 2014, during her eighth game with two or more hits.

This was Pacheco's first game with two or more RBI this season and her second with multiple hits.

Freshman right-hander Sammy Cordova appeared in her 18th game of the season and in her seventh straight season. The Huntington Beach, Calif., native allowed two earned runs to the Beavers on eight hits to go with four strikeouts. She improved to 5-2 on the year with the win.

The Utes got on the board first as Dickman blooped a double down the left-field line and Flippen laid down a sacrifice bunt to first base before Urtez smacked an RBI base hit through the right side to put Utah ahead 1-0. Urtez leads the team with 24 RBI in 2014. Castro then connected for her first triple of the season to right-center field to push Urtez across home plate for Utah's second score of the frame.

The Beavers got one run back in the second before Dickman started Utah's three-run third frame with a single through the left side of the OSU defense before Castro drew a walk and junior designated player Marissa Mendenhall singled up the middle with two out to plate Dickman for her 13th RBI of the season. Pacheco then drilled a two-run double to center field for RBIs six and seven on the year.

Utah added three more runs in the bottom half of the fourth frame as sophomore third baseman Kristen Stewart led off with a base hit to left field. Hadley then hit a ground ball to the OSU second baseman, but her throw over to the shortstop covering second base for the force out on Stewart was misplayed. After Hadley stole her fourth base of the season, Ute runners were on second and third base with no outs and Dickman tagged a two-run double to left field. Then with two out in the frame, Castro drove an RBI base hit up the middle to cap the scoring for the Utes. Castro has now driven in 18 runs this season.

The Beavers scored on run in the top of the seventh to set the final margin at 8-2 in favor of the Utes.

Oregon State (12-19, 2-6 Pac-12) was led by a 2-for-3 night at the plate by shortstop CJ Chirichigno.

The Utes and Beavers will play the middle game of their series on Saturday at 6 p.m. MT with action being televised live on Pac-12 Networks with Anne Marie Anderson (PB) and Teri Goldberg (Analyst) on the call.
