Box Score

SALT LAKE CITY - Tied 3-3 after three innings, Colorado State outscored the University of Utah softball team (21-20-1 overall, 2-8 Mountain West), 17-2 in the last three frames in cruising to a 20-5 league win over the Utes here this afternoon.

The Rams improve to 24-23 and to 3-5 in loop action.

CSU plated two runs in the top of the first, thanks to a two-RBI double. Fortunately, Utah matched it in the bottom of the frame, as Andrea Hoffman hit a two-RBI single that scored Staci Hemingway and Hailey Davenport.

They both also scored a single run in the third. CSU first, on a sacrifice fly, and Utah on Davenport's solo home run.

From there it was all Rams as they took advantage of five Utah errors in plating six, three and eight runs in each of the last three innings.

Meghan Dyer got the nod in the circle and falls to 15-13 on the season. She only threw 3.1 innings, allowing seven hits and nine runs (eight earned).

Utah had nine hits on the day, led by the 3-for-3 effort of Davenport. Hoffman and Kara Foster both had two RBI on the day. Foster's two RBI came off her team-leading 14th home run of the season in the fourth inning.

The Rams had 15 hits today and CSU hurler Kim Klabough claims the win (9-8).

Utah returns to action on Wednesday with a rare mid-week game. Utah hosts Utah State at Ute Field at 3 p.m.
