It Takes Two: An opportunistic Ute defense that turned six double plays, four of which came in Friday's 11-inning game against No. 17/21 Arizona. That mark set a new school single-game record with four double plays and tied three others for second place in NCAA history (Fresno State against Pacific (11 inn.) on Feb. 28, 1989; Arkansas against Alabama on Mar. 21, 1999; UAB vs. Saint Louis on May 10, 2001). The NCAA record is five turned by Alabama vs. Texas on May 17, 1999.

The school single-season record is 43, which was set by the 1989 edition of the Utes and ranks third in NCAA history. The Utes have already turned 27 double plays this season. The minimum to get listed in the NCAA record book is 34.

How Sweet It Is: Utah's senior second baseman Jackie Sweet (Corona, Calif.) led the Ute offense with a team-high .500 batting average (minimum five at-bats) last week after going 7-for-14 at the plate without a strikeout and three extra-base hits, including her first two home runs of the season. Sweet also drove in a team-best six runs and drew three walks to increase her on-base percentage to .588.

In the field, Sweet was an integral part as he boasted a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage with 14 assists on 14 putouts from her second base post.

Sweet has hit safely in seven straight games, which is just one game shy of tying Dickman for the longest such streak this season. She has five games this season with two or more hits and boasts four games with at least two RBI this season.

After drawing a walk and hitting a single in Thursday's series opener against No. 17/21 Arizona, Sweet went 4-for-8 with six RBI, two home runs and a double in the final two games versus the Wildcats.Kayce Deals: Utah freshman right-hander Kayce Nieto (Farmington Hills, Mich.) turned in an efficient complete-game effort during Utah's 8-4 win over No. 17/21 Arizona last Sunday. It was the Utes' first-ever victory in its new facility, Utah Softball Stadium, and Nieto's third complete of the season on the mound improved her record to 3-4. Nieto allowed only one earned run on four hits in 7.0 innings and only issued one walk to the Wildcats.
