The University of Utah softball team will look for its first-ever Pac-12 Conference series sweep today at 6 p.m. MT against California in Salt Lake City.

Cal Series Recap: The Utes have taken the first two games against the Golden Bears to secure their third Pac-12 series victory of the season.

Last night, senior center fielder Chalese Hadley and junior right fielder Marissa Mendenhall hit home runs in the fifth and sixth frames to help Utah pick up a 6-5 win.

Utah's six runs came on six hits in the contest and six different Utes registered hits during a 6-5 win.

Hadley cracked a three-run homer in the fifth to highlight a 1-for-2 night at the plate with a season-high three RBI. She now has 15 career home runs and 76 career RBI. This season, she has registered a pair of multi-RBI outings. The South Jordan, Utah native also drew a walk in the third inning.

Junior right fielder Marissa Mendenhall hit Utah's second home run of the contest in the bottom of the sixth, as she towered a fly ball well over the left-field fence for her team-high seventh round-tripper of the year and the 12th of her career. The Stansbury Park, Utah native has driven in 27 runs this season and 68 during her career.

The Utah defense increased its NCAA-leading double-play total to 43, which ties the school record.

During Utah's 8-0 run-rule win on Thursday, freshman right-hander Sammy Cordova allowed only six hits in her first career complete-game shutout.

Utah received an impressive performance from Cordova on the mound as she struck out five and walked only one in 6.0 innings of work to improve her record to 9-8 on the season. This was Cordova's seventh complete-game effort of her freshman campaign.

The Utah offense pounded out 13 hits as nine different batters recorded hits.

Freshman first baseman Bridget Castro spurred the Ute attack by going 2-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored.
