Senior Spotlight: A success both on the field and in the classroom, Hannah Clements (Poway, Calif.) was one of six Pac-12 players named to this season's Capital One Academic All-District 8 First Team. She lined a two-run double against Stanford on Thursday.
The consummate team player, Joni Cook (Eagle, Idaho) was always willing to do whatever it took to help the Utes win games. She hit .435 over the last 19 games of the 2010 season en route to All-Mountain West Conference honors. In 2011, Joni had two hits and two RBI against fourth-ranked Florida and earlier this season, she was 2-for-3 with an RBI against Portland State.
A durable and productive presence at third base for Utah throughout her career, Whitney Holm (Spanish Fork, Utah) has started 213 of 214 career games on the hot corner for the Utes. She ranks fourth in school history with 36 career home runs and has driven in 130 career runs, which is just one shy of tying for fourth place in school history. Recently, Holm finished a home run short of the cycle during a 3-for-4, one-RBI effort in the second game of the Oregon State series.
Generra Nielson (Blanding, Utah) is fourth in school history with 486 K's over her career, despite just pitching for two years with the Utes. She led the Pac-12 in strikeouts throughout this season and her total of 288 is a new school single-season record and ranks 12th in the country. She tied the school's single-game strikeout record twice this season with 16 at UNC Greensboro and against Colgate and has 11 games of 10 or more strikeouts this year.
A vocal leader and versatile athlete throughout her career on the right side of the Utah infield, Tia Palauni (Taylorsville, Utah) was an NFCA All-West Region Second Team selection after setting school single-season records for on-base percentage and walks. This season, Palauni leads the Pac-12 with 18 double plays turned. The most patient hitter in school history, Palauni will graduate as Utah's all-time leader in walks.
