Utah senior Hannah Clements was named to the Pac-12 Softball All-Academic First Team.

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior Hannah Clements, junior Sandi Bowles and senior Joni Cook were selected to the 2012 Pac-12 Conference Softball All-Academic teams, announced Tuesday by Commissioner Larry Scott. Clements earned a first-team nod and Bowles took second-team honors, while Cook gained honorable mention recognition.
Clements earned first-team accolades after graduating with a degree in Human Development. She was also named to the Capital One Academic All-District 8 First Team. The Poway, Calif., native made 143 career starts, mostly in left field, during four seasons at Utah. This season at Idaho State, she was 3-for-3 with a grand slam and then hit a two-run homer against Hawaii. She was four-time academic all-conference selection during her career as well as a three-time Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete honoree.
Bowles finished this season second on team with 11 stolen bases on 13 attempts and has swiped 23 bases over her career. The Herriman, Utah native majors in Health Education and appeared in 48 of 56 games with 16 starts this season. She posted a career-high three steals against Rider and had two stolen bases versus San Jose State. She hit an RBI single, stole a base and scored a run against UC Riverside and crossed the plate once in each of the final two games at No. 15 UCLA.
Cook is entering her final year in the Athletic Training program and started 21 games in the designated player role for the Utes in 2012. When not starting, she served as one of Utah's top pinch-hit options. The Eagle, Idaho native emerged as one of Utah's top offensive threats during the 2010 conference season, earning All-MWC honors after hitting .435 over the last 19 games. In 2011, Cook had two hits and two RBI against fourth-ranked Florida and also earned Spring 2011 Academic All-MWC honors. This season, she was 2-for-3 with an RBI against Portland State.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
