SALT LAKE CITY - University of Utah softball head coach Amy Hogue received the Judy Sweet Award while attending an NCAA Women's Coaches Academy, a week-long educational training session, in Atlanta earlier this summer.

The Judy Sweet Award recognizes two members of each academy team whose spirit and dedication to their own and to others' personal and professional success has made an impact on their peers. This award is granted via nomination by fellow classmates at each WCA program. There were two groups of 20 each and Hogue was voted by her peers to receive the Judy Sweet Award from her group.

"I attended the Women's Coaches Academy in Atlanta and it was amazing!" Hogue said. "The women that run this program are tireless supporters of women coaches and they really had an impact on me. I felt honored to receive this award, but I was even more honored to be given the opportunity to learn and grow from the phenomenal staff at the WCA. Judy Sweet and the entire staff have so much to offer coaches and I recommend the program to all women who are (or are considering) coaching as their profession."

Judy Sweet is the first female president of the NCAA, a pioneer with a storied coaching and athletics administration career, and a tireless crusader for Title IX. Sweet truly believes in the power of sharing our personal and professional stories. Through her caring and commitment, Sweet's leadership has guided the WCA into the success story it is today.

In 15 seasons with the University of Utah softball team either as a player, assistant coach or head coach, Hogue continues to build the Utes into a competitor in the best softball league in the nation, the Pac-12 Conference. The sixth coach in program history, Hogue has 188 career wins at Utah.
