Women's Tennis Upsets No. 22 Miami, Fla.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The No. 55 ranked Utah women's tennis team upset No. 22 ranked Miami (Fla.) 5-4 one Sunday at home in the George S. Eccle Tennis Center. Megan Payne, Angie Olson and Rebecca Rushforth, all native Utahns, were winners in singles. Payne defeated Katia Bogomolova 4- 6, 6-4, 7-6 at the No. 3 position. Olson downed Meredith Laughlin at the No. 4 spot in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. At the No. 5, Rebecca Rushforth beat Selin Nassi 6-1, 6-2.

The Utes then went on to win two of three doubles matches, with the two winning teams again consisting of all native Utahns. Payne teamed with Molly Sanderson to defeat the Hurricane's team of Nassi and Alanna Broderick 8-4. Olson and Rushforth remained unbeaten in doubles for the regular season as they clinched the huge upset for the Utes by beating Laughlin and Bogomolova 8-2. The Utes finish their regular season with an overall record of 10-8.
