Women's Tennis Falls at NCAA Central Regional

May 15, 1998

The Utah women's tennis team lost to No. 4 seeded Colorado at the NCAA Central Region Championships, 5-1. Angie Olson was the Utes sole winner, as she defeated Sandra Fisher 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 4 position.

Ute senior Anna Svedenhov lost to Nadine Kenzelmann 6- 3, 6-3 at No.1. Colorado's Jessica Grow downed senior Linda Engblom in the NO. 2 position 6-1, 7-6 (7-4). Sophomore Megan Payne lost to Colorado's Emily Smith in a three-setter 5-7, 6-4, 6-2. At No. 5, Utah senior Rebecca Rushforth was defeated by Mary Mahon 6-2, 6-4 and at No. 6 freshman Heidi Thomas lost to Buffalo Aggie Bek 6-2, 6-1.

The doubles portion of the contest was not played. The loss ends Utah's stellar season with a 13-10 record. Colorado moves on to face No. 1 seeded Arizona.
