LAS VEGAS – After five days of competition, the University of Utah women’s tennis team wrapped up a successful weekend at the ITA Mountain Regional Championships in Las Vegas and returns to Utah with a trophy in hand.

Ranked No. 18 nationally, Paige Miles and Tereza Bekerova blew past Dominique Dulski and Natasha Smith of New Mexico in the doubles semifinals, 8-1. The pair lived up to their No.1 tournament ranking as they topped UNLV’s Lucia Batta and Aleskandra Josifoska 8-2 for the doubles title.

“I was really excited that Tereza and Paige were able to defend their title,” said Utah head coach Mat Iandolo. “I feel they are one of the best doubles teams in the country and I look forward to seeing how they do in New York.”

Batta, ranked No. 41 nationally in singles play, went on to defeat Michele Okhremchuck to claim the singles title.

The Utes take a short break from competition before heading to San Diego for the San Diego State Invitational Nov. 7-10.
