LAS VEGAS, Nev.- Junior Anastasia Putilina of the University of Utah women's tennis team knocked out a win in singles and two in doubles with partner sophomore Paige Miles at the USTA/ITA Mountain Region Championships, Saturday, to advance to Sunday's final rounds in Las Vegas. The doubles final will begin at 10 a.m. PT at the Fertitta Tennis Complex, followed by the singles final at noon.

"I am very proud of Anastasia for battling through a tough match in adverse conditions," said head coach Mat Iandolo. " I think it showed a lot of maturity on her part. I am also very happy with Anastasia and Paige playing in the doubles finals.

"Missy and Lexi both won big matches today against high level competition," continued Iandolo. "I am very proud of their efforts today."

In the singles semifinals, top-seeded Putilina defeated fourth-seeded Lauren Megale of Boise State in a three-set match 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 to advance. The 67th-ranked Ute will take on UNLV's second-seeded Lucia Batta in the finals.

In doubles action, second-seeded Putilina and Miles topped Denver's Schnell and Dunn 9-7, in the quarterfinals before downing Batta and Maskljun of UNLV 8-4 in the semis. The 33rd-ranked Ute duo will face UNLV's Albers and Hidvegi in the finals.

In singles consolation play, junior Missy Harris downed Natalie Dunn of Denver 6-3, 6-1, in the third round. Harris is 4-1 overall in tournament action, going 2-0 in consolation play.

Redshirt sophomore Lexi Provancha extended her run in the consolation bracket to 3-0 by defeating Colorado's Michala Jensen 6-4, 4-1 ret., in the third round. The Ute is 4-1 overall in tournament action.

Freshman Ashley Tanner earned her third win of the tournament with a 6-2, 6-0 win over New Mexico's Michaela Oldani in the third round.
