SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah (49) will host two matches at home this weekend at Eccles Tennis Center. The University of Montana will challenge Utah on Saturday at noon. The match between the Utes and Weber State is set to start at 5:00 p.m. after a short break between matches.
The Utes received a No. 49 national ranking by the ITA this week as they released their first computerized rankings on Tuesday. The team is currently 7-4 in the season and is coming off of a week long break that should give them fresh legs to tally wins this weekend.
The team was last seen on Feb. 23, 2008 as they hosted another double-header. The Utes fell to No. 24 Denver 4-3, but came back to sweep Utah State 7-0 to finish out their day.
Elizabeth Ferris, a senior from Anaheim, Calif., has earned a No. 52 national ranking by the ITA this week. The Ute has posted a 22-8 season record so far this season.
Ferris and Emily Kwok did not receive a national ranking in doubles play this week, but will look to regain that honor in the upcoming matches as they lead the team at the No. 1 spot.
THOUGHTS FROM HEAD COACH Mat Iandolo:
"After a week off, I look forward to our team getting to compete. I have a special feeling towards the Weber State match as this is my first time coaching against my alma meter."
The team has had a rough start to their season, sitting with a 1-5 record. Their win came from a 4-3 win over Northern Colorado University on Feb. 10, 2008.
The team has had two weeks to recoup since their last match on Feb. 16, 2008. The Grizzlies faced Eastern Washington for a 6-1 loss.
WEBER STATE WILDCATS
The team has yet to notch a win this year. Last week, the Wildcats faced UC Davis and No. 32 Sacramento State for 7-0 sweeps to tally their season record to 0-6.
