Senior Evgenia Kryuchkova was named the MWC Women's Tennis Player of the Week, Wednesday, for the second time this year.

SALT LAKE CITY- Senior Evgenia Kryuchkova of the 59th-ranked University of Utah women's tennis team (8-8, 2-0 MWC) was named the Mountain West Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, Wednesday. The Ute, ranked No. 108, went a combined 4-0 in singles and doubles in MWC play this past weekend, helping the Utes go 2-0 against New Mexico and 61st-ranked TCU. Earlier this year Kryuchkova earned Player of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 19.
In Utah's 7-0 victory over New Mexico, Kryuchkova and partner redshirt sophomore Lexi Provancha secured the doubles point for the Utes by topping Michaela Bezdickova and Nikolina Grbac, 8-6, at the No. 2 position. The Zhukovasky, Russia native then bested Anya Villanueva 3-6, 6-4, 10-6, at the No. 2 singles spot.
Kryuchkova earned the match-clinching point in Utah's 5-2 upset of No. 61 TCU with her 6-2, 7-6(2) defeat of Federica Denti at the No. 2 singles spot, after she and Provancha downed Gaby Mastromarino and Olivia Smith, 8-3, at the No. 2 doubles position.
Utah is hosting a trio of Mountain West Conference opponents this weekend, April 8-10, in its final home matches of the year. The Utes face Air Force Friday, April 8, at 2 p.m. MT, before taking on Colorado State Saturday, April 9, at 11 a.m. MT and 72nd-ranked Wyoming Sunday, April 10, at 11 a.m. MT. All of this weekend's matches will be held at the Eccles Tennis Center due to forecasted inclement weather.
Saturday will feature the annual Crimson Games with free food, prizes, and free admission, while Sunday will be Senior Day, where Kryuchkova, the Utes' lone senior, will be recognized.
