Last Time Out

In their last road trip of the regular season, the No. 38 Utes visited Seattle, seeing the No. 48 Washington Huskies. Utah struggled on the road and were shut out by Washington, 4-0.

Quick Hits

  • The Utes have dropped seven of their last nine matches to ranked Pac-12 teams, five of which are in the top-20 with two in the top five.
  • Utah has tallied five victories over ranked opponents this season, collecting wins over No. 23 Houston, No. 50 Denver, No. 53 Washington State, No. 60 North Texas and No. 71 BYU.
  • The Utes victory over Houston marked the teams' second win over a higher-ranking squad. The first came against Denver.

In the Rankings

  • The Utes have earned recognition in all of the ITA NCAA Division I polls beginning Jan. 2. After besting No. 23 Houston on March 12, Utah shot up from their previous No. 37 ranking to claim a season-low 27th on March 18. The Utes currently hold the 36th spot.
  • Tereza Bekerova was awarded No. 107 singles in the Jan. 2 rankings, while Sarah Pham grabbed No. 111 on Feb. 11. After being absent from the top-125 for several weeks, Bekerova earned No. 125 on March 11 and shot up to No. 79 on March 25 after defeating No. 26 Denise Star of California. She currently holds No. 90.
  • Senior Pham stands as the Utes’ winningest singles player in 2014, holding a 12-5 mark out of the No. 2 position. The No. 3 doubles duo of Pham and Callie Craig are 10-4 on the season.  

 

 

Scouting the Opposition

Colorado

The Buffs also took on No. 48 Washington this weekend and ultimately fell to the Huskies 4-1. Colorado has dropped nine-straight conference matches and is 8-13 on the season.
