SALT LAKE CITY – Utah’s women’s tennis team, along with four student-athletes, was recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for its accomplishments in the classroom during the 2013-2014 school year.

In the spring, the Utes placed a record five student-athletes on the Pac-12 all-academic teams and earned a cumulative GPA of 3.38

The ITA also recognized Callie Craig, Sarah Richter, Elena Najera-Salas and Luisa Gerstner Da Rosa for their outstanding academic marks.

Craig, earned first-team academic honors for the third-consecutive year from the Pac-12 this season, the only student-athlete in the conference to accomplish the feat. The Orem native finished with a 3.95 GPA in Exercise Sports Science.

Richter was honored by the Pac-12 for the first time, earning a spot on the second team with a 3.91 GPA in Communications.

Najera- Salas currently owns a 3.77 GPA in Biology with a minor in Spanish while Gerstner Da Rosa owns a 4.00 in Business

In order to earn an ITA Team Award, the team must have a GPA of 3.2 or better for the current academic year. In order to earn ITA Scholar Ahtlete status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of 3.5 or better for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
