Last year, Putilina participated in the first prequalifying round of the 2009 All-American Championships, becoming the first Ute selected to compete in the tournament since Liz Ferris in 2007. Ferris made three consecutive appearances in the tournament from 2005-07.

The Utes are coming off a their inaugural showing at the UVa Fall Invitational where Putilina, redshirt sophomore Lexi Provancha and freshman Sarah Pham each captured the consolation title in their respective flights. Kryuchkova pulled an upset of 41st-ranked Michaela Kissell of Marshall 6-3, 7-5, in the tournament's opening round.

Utes Hope to Carry Championship Momentum...

The Utes, led by the 2010 Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year Mat Iandolo, became the MWC regular season champions after going 8-0 against conference opponents. This was the first conference title for Utah since 1983. The Utes also went undefeated at home (9-0) for the first time in the history of the program. In April the team cracked the ITA top-40, which was its highest late-season ranking in nearly two decades.
