SALT LAKE CITY - Rising senior Keisha Fisher, a libero on the University of Utah volleyball team, participated in a three-day tryout for the U.S. Women's Senior A2 Team Feb. 19-21 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.

Fisher, a Ririe, Idaho native, is already fourth in school history with 1,100 career digs. In 2009, Fisher completed her third year as a starter and her second season as the starting libero for the Utes. She served as a team tri-captain and ranked fifth in the MWC with 3.97 digs per set.

"Keisha is a very talented and skilled libero," Utah head coach Beth Launiere said. "She is one of the top passers in the country and has a very high volleyball IQ. Tryout situations like this are a great opportunity to test yourself against the best and to play at a high level."

Athletes in the tryout were evaluated by U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team Head Coach Hugh McCutcheon and assistant coaches Karch Kiraly and Jamie Morrison. The U.S. Women's National A2 Team will be announced in mid-March once all confirmations to participate have been secured.

The A2 program is tentatively scheduled to take place in Phoenix from May 24 through June 2. About 24 athletes will be invited to participate, including training then competition in the 2010 USA Adult Open Championships in the Open Division from May 29-June 1.

Utah libero Keisha Fisher awaits instruction at the U.S. Senior A2 Team tryouts last weekend.
