SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah volleyball team hosts its annual Spring Tournament Saturday at Crimson Court (HPER E 101), head coach Beth Launiere announced today.
Utah is in Pool A along with BYU, an Alumni team and Utah Valley, while Pool B teams include Utah State, Weber State, Montana State, and the College of Southern Idaho.
The Utes will face the Alumni team at 9 a.m., Utah Valley at 11 a.m., then BYU at 2 p.m. The Utes' playoff match will be against one of the Pool B teams at either 3 or 4 p.m.
Utah is coming off a 17-12 campaign in 2009 and finished in a third-place in the Mountain West Conference with New Mexico at 10-6 in league play. In her 20th season at the helm of Utah Volleyball, Launiere recorded her 400th victory and currently owns a 408-224 career record (all at Utah) for a .646 winning percentage.
AVCA West Region Honorable Mention and two-time All-MWC selection Karolina Bartkowiak joins middle blocker Danielle Killpack, libero Keisha Fisher and setters Stephanie Neeley and Abby Simmons as returning starters on the 2010 Utah roster.
