2013 Utah Volleyball Schedule

SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah volleyball program will compete in 13 matches that will be televised live on the Pac-12 Networks, the conference office announced Monday. The Pac-12 Networks will broadcast a total of 89 women's volleyball matches throughout the regular season. Utah head coach Beth Launiere also announced the Utes' complete 2013 schedule.

Eighteen of Utah's 32 regular-season matches will be against 10 teams that qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season, including reigning national finalist Oregon.

In what many claim to be the best collegiate volleyball conference in the country, the Pac-12, the Utes will play six matches against three teams who advanced to the Elite Eight last season (Oregon (twice), USC (twice) and Stanford (twice)) and nine matches against six schools from the 2012 Sweet Sixteen (Oregon (twice), BYU, Washington (twice), USC (twice), and Stanford (twice)).

"Our goal is to get into the top half of the Pac-12, means that you're in the top 25 in the country," Launiere said. "That's the next step for us, no questions about it, which will also help us get into the NCAA Tournament."

"Our non-conference season is strong," Launiere said. "We feel like like we needed to have some pre-conference competition that was going to allow us to hopefully get us some significant wins, if not just be good be good, competitive RPI matches, to prepare us for the Pac-12. It's a really good schedule for us to have a good RPI going into the conference schedule."

Utah then heads to Denton, Texas for the North Texas Invitational Sept. 6-7 with matches against Texas State, Prairie View A&AM, Northwestern State and the homestanding Mean Green.

The Wolverine Classic will be held at Utah Valley Sept. 13-14 with the Utes facing UC Irvine Sept. 13 before matches against Idaho State and host Utah Valley on Sept. 14.
