The Utes are one of seven Pac-12 Conference schools that went 3-0 during the opening weekend of the season.

We Are the Champions!: The Utes kept the Utah Classic title in Salt Lake City by winning all three matches of the season's opening weekend against Utah State, Fairfield and Northern Iowa.

In the fifth and final set of Friday's season-opener against Utah State, the Aggies climbed out to a 5-3 advantage, but eight straight Ute points, including two straight aces by junior libero Lea Adolph (Waltrop, Germany), gave Utah an 11-5 edge en route to taking the set and clinching the match, 15-8. For the match, Utah limited Utah State to a .114 hitting percentage.

During the middle match of the Utah Classic, the Utes posted a .233 hitting efficiency against Fairfield to go with 10.0 team blocks, while the Stags managed just a .119 clip on the attack and 4.0 team blocks.

The Utes clinched the Utah Classic title on Saturday night with a four-set victory (17-25, 25-19, 25-18, 25-18) against Northern Iowa in the Huntsman Center. Utah hit .305 for the match against UNI, compared to a .216 hitting efficiency for UNI, and the Utes racked up 10.5 blocks on the Panthers.

Redd-Brandon Gets Defensive: Senior middle blocker Erin Redd-Brandon (Spanish Fork, Utah) has been named the Pac-12 Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Redd-Brandon is the first Ute volleyball player to ever earn a weekly award from the Pac-12.

Redd-Brandon picked up the first weekly award of her career after finishing the opening weekend of the season with a team-high 1.69 blocks per set, which ranks fourth in the Pac-12. Redd-Brandon totaled 22 block assists, which is the most in the conference early on this season.

Redd-Brandon was named to the Utah Classic All-Tournament Team after averaging 2.46 kills per set on a .287 hitting percentage on the attack for the Utes. Redd-Brandon came up one block shy of tying her career high as part of her fourth career double-double to lead Utah to a five-set victory over Utah State last Friday.

Redd-Brandon On Career Blocks List: Redd-Brandon also became the 10th member of Utah's 400-block club over the weekend. She has 413 career blocks (300 blocks assists and 23 block solos). She is already fifth in Utah's top-10 list in all-time career total blocks list with 390 career blocks assists and stands 26 shy of tying Teresa McCabe (439 from 1991-94) for eighth place in school history.

MVP! MVP! MVP!: Senior outside hitter Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2013 Utah Classic for the second straight year. Odale totaled 27 kills in the three matches for a 2.08 kill-per-set average. Defensively, she had 3.08 digs per set (40 total) in the back row for the Utes to go with 0.85 blocks per set at the net. Odale registered a career-high 23 digs to go with 12 kills for her 22nd career double-double performance on Friday against Utah State. Odale got off to a fast start after connecting on six of her first eight swings against the Aggies. She has 97 career service aces, which leaves her three shy of becoming the 14th member of Utah's 100-Ace Club.
