SALT LAKE CITY -- University of Utah sophomore outside hitter Airial Salvo earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her second weekly honor of the season and fourth of her career.
Salvo led ninth-ranked Utah to a sweep over No. 17 Brigham Young last Friday night, extending the Utes' lead in the conference standings to two matches.
She served up a career-high and team-best six service aces in the three games to go along with a team-high 14 kills and nine digs. Salvo totaled six of Utah's nine aces on the night. She had only two hitting errors on the night, collecting a hitting efficiency of .444, while also posting two total blocks against the Cougars.
Four of the last five Player of the Week honors have gone to the Utes. Whitney Webb won back-back weeks (Oct. 16 and 23) while Sydney Anderson shared it on Oct. 2. Salvo earned the honor back on Sept. 18.
Salvo and the Utes return to action this weekend when they play at TCU (Nov. 3) and New Mexico (Nov. 4).
