The Utah volleyball team faces No. 6 UCLA tonight at Crimson Court.
After dropping a hard-fought four-set decision to No. 8 USC last night, the Utes are now 12-16 overall with a 3-12 mark in Pac-12 play.
Blockin' Utes: Utah is seventh in the NCAA and second in the Pac-12's latest statistical rankings with a 3.00 block-per-set average as a team. Including league-games only, Utah is fourth with 2.92 blocks per set during Pac-12 matches. The Utes have outblocked their foes in 10 of their 12 victories this season and hold a 10-10 mark in that scenario in 2012.
Blocking Bailey: With 150 block assists this season, sophomore middle blocker Bailey Bateman (Hooper, Utah) already owns he ninth-highest single-season total in school history. She is only one shy of tying Adrianne Bradley-Drake (151 in 2001) for eighth place.
She has 154 total blocks this season and needs to average 4.4 blocks per match to tie Sheila Cottrell-Sorensen (176 in 1985) and Linda Byington (176 in 1991) for 10th in the Utah single-season record book.
Based on the latest available statistical rankings, Bateman is tied for second in the Pac-12 and 11th in the NCAA with 1.52 blocks per set this season and is second in the conference with 1.52 blocks per set in league matches.
Chasing 1,000: Junior outside hitter Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) has 968 career kills and needs to average 6.4 kills per match over the Utes' final five regular-season contests to become the 13th member of Utah's 1,000-kill club.
Odale is second on the squad with 2.76 kills per set this season and ranks third on the team with 2.20 digs per set. She leads the team and is third in the Pac-12 with 0.31 aces per set and is eighth in the league with 0.30 service aces per set during conference matches.
Lea Digs In: Sophomore libero Lea Adolph (Waltrop, Germany) has had double-digits in digs in each of Utah's last three matches. She is s averaging 3.50 digs and 0.21 service aces per set during that stretch. Adolph had 11 digs last night against USC, which was the ninth time that she has surpassed the 10-dig mark in 2012 and the 13th time of her career.
