The Match: The University of Utah volleyball team finishes its season tonight in the inaugural Rumble in the Rockies event with Colorado. Utah is 10-20 overall this season and 5-16 against Pac-12 Conference opponents after splitting a pair of home matches last weekend.
Blistering on the Block: Utah gained a 13.0 to 7.5 advantage in team blocks Friday over Washington, who entered the match as the nation's top blocking team. Team blocks in the match against Washington State were even at 11 apiece, only the eighth match of the year that Utah had not outblocked its opponents. The Utes are fifth in the nation and third in the Pac-12 with 3.03 blocks per set overall and 2.92 per set in league competition.
Morgan's Monster Performance: Sophomore outside hitter Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) put together an impressive performance to lead the Utes to a 3-1 win over Washington State Saturday at Crimson Court. She pounded down a career-high-tying 23 kills on 37 swings without an error for a career-high .622 hitting percentage against the Cougars.
Killpack Closes on the Block: Danielle Killpack (Idaho Falls, Idaho) registered 10 blocks for her second consecutive double-figure-block match for the Utes against No. 10 Washington last Friday at Crimson Court. Her 10 blocks against the Cougars is the highest three-set match total in the Pac-12 Conference this season. Killpack now has four career matches of 10 blocks or more. Killpack is third in the Pac-12's league-only statistics with 1.38 blocks per set against league foes. She is listed 26th in the nation and fourth in the Pac-12's overall statistics with 1.34 blocks per set this season. The senior middle blocker is seventh in school history with 378 block assists and needs just two more to pass Karolina Bartkowiak (2007-10) and move into sixth place. She is the ninth member of Utah's 400-block club and is ninth in school history with 406 total blocks over her career.
A Glance at Colorado: The Buffaloes are 6-23 overall and 1-20 in Pac-12 play. They picked up their first conference victory at home last Friday against Washington State. CU's top player is Kerra Schroeder, who is seventh in the Pac-12 with 3.92 kills and 4.38 points per set this season. Utah earned its first-ever Pac-12 victory in Boulder on Sept. 13.
