The University of Utah volleyball team closes its 2013 regular season with a pair of road matches at Colorado on Wednesday, Nov. 27 at 6 p.m. MT and UCLA on Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. PT.
The Utes were 26th in the NCAA's latest RPI rankings with a 19-11 overall record and an 8-10 mark in Pac-12 play, which finds them tied with Colorado for seventh in the standings. Nineteen wins for Utah is the most for the program since 2008.
Ute Blockers: Utah is second in the conference with 2.91 blocks per set and the Utes were ranked ninth in the latest NCAA statistics. Utah has outblocked its opponents 22 times through 30 matches this season. The Utes are 19-3 when outblocking their opponents in 2013.
Scalding Schofield: Junior outside hitter Chelsey Schofield (Provo, Utah) turned in a match-high-tying 18 digs that went with five kills and three blocks in the first match of the week Friday against Oregon. She is 32 kills away from becoming the 15th member of Utah's 1,000-kill club as she has 968 along with 937 career digs.
Sure Shot Shelby: Junior right-side hitter Shelby Dalton (Moab, Utah) posted a team-high of 2.38 kills per set last week against Oregon and Oregon State. Dalton was also third on the team with 1.12 blocks per set against the Ducks and Beavers.
She had 10 kills last Sunday against Oregon State to go with four blocks and three digs for her 17th double-digit-kill effort of the year and the 25th of her career for her third straight double-digit-dig performance.
This season, Dalton leads the team with 2.70 kills per set and ranks second on the squad with a .290 hitting percentage (minimum five attack attempts per match). She is 11th in the Pac-12 and 96th in the NCAA's latest statistics with 1.17 blocks per set from her right-side hitter position.
Morgan to the Max: Senior outside hitter Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) is fifth in school history with 1,282 career kills, which is just one away from equaling McKelle Stilson (1,283 from 1998-2001) for fourth place.
She has 1,162 career digs, which is fifth in school history and is currently 54 away from tying Julie Kirby (1,216 from 1991-94) for fourth place in Utah history. Her 117 career service is also the sixth-most in school history and needs 12 more to tie Brooke Barton (128 from 1996-2000) for fifth.
More From Mak: Junior outside hitter Makenzie Moea'i averaged 1.75 kills per set last week against Oregon and Oregon State. She also registered 0.75 blocks and 0.50 digs per set against the Ducks and Beavers.
She added six kills for a .308 efficiency to go with a season-high five blocks and three digs on Sunday against OSU.
For the season, Moea'i is averaging 1.91 kills on a .217 hitting percentage to go with 0.64 digs and 0.54 blocks per set.
