2011 Season Final Release Get Acrobat Reader

The University of Utah volleyball team concluded its 2011 season, its first year in the Pac-12 Conference. Utah was 11-20 overall this season and took ninth place with 6-16 against Pac-12 opponents.

Blistering on the Block: Utah finished 2011 fifth in the NCAA and third in the Pac-12 with 3.00 blocks per set. The Utes turned in 2.90 blocks per set in league competition. Colorado outblocked Utah in the season finale, 5-4. This was Utah's first victory in a match where it was outblocked this season.

Schofield Earns Pac-12 Recognition: Chelsey Schofield (Provo, Utah) earned All-Pac-12 Conference Freshman Team Honorable Mention recognition, the league office announced Nov. 29.

Schofield turned in a team-high 11 kills and also had 11 digs for her eighth career double-double in Wednesday's sweep of Colorado.

Schofield ended her first Utah campaign with 16 double-figure-kill matches. She led the team the team this season with 2.95 kills per set, the second consecutive year in which a freshman has led Utah in kills. Defensively, she was third on the squad with 2.63 digs per set.

Morgan on the Attack: Morgan Odale (Star, Idaho) put together an impressive season on the attack for the Utes, finishing second on the squad with 2.85 kills and 2.80 digs per set. Odale leads the team and is 10th in the Pac-12 with 0.23 service aces per set. She is tied for fifth in the Pac-12's league-only statistics with 0.23 service aces per set in league matches.

Killpack Closes Strong: Danielle Killpack (Idaho Falls, Idaho) Killpack finished 28th in the NCAA and fourth in the Pac-12 with 1.32 blocks per set. She was third in the conference-only stats with 1.35 blocks per set. She ends her career sixth in school history with 380 block assists. She is the ninth member of Utah's 400-block club and is ninth in school history with 408 total blocks over her career.

Block of Redd: Middle blocker Erin Redd (Spanish Fork, Utah) ended her sophomore season 16th in the NCAA and third in the Pac-12 with 1.37 blocks per set. Redd has posted 100 or more blocks in each of her first two seasons as a Ute. She already has 258 career blocks (18 solo, 240 block assists.

Dalton Does It All: Outside hitter Shelby Dalton (Moab, Utah) was effective on both the attack and block during her freshman campaign. Dalton averaged 1.07 blocks per set in 22 league matches this season. In the overall stats, she finished third on the squad with a .213 hitting percentage on the attack with 1.77 kills per set as well as 0.91 blocks.

Simmons Sets the Utes: Junior setter Abby Simmons (Phoenix, Ariz.) handed out a team-high 6.93 assists per set this season and in league play and she dished out 6.78 assists per set. Simmons obliterated her previous career high with 59 assists to go with nine digs Nov. 19 against Washington State. She owns 1,638 career assists, which is 60 shy of 10th place on Utah's all-time career list.

Sim Digs Deep: Libero Nikki Sim (Salt Lake City, Utah) had 405 digs this season, good for the seventh-highest single-season total in school history. She finished 10th in the Pac-12 with 3.89 digs per set in all matches as well as a 3.65 mark in Pac-12 play.
