On the other side of the bracket, LIU Brooklyn will face host and No. 2 overall seed Penn State on Fri., Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The second-round match will be held on Sat., Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
"There's not a better feeling than seeing your team's name come up on the bracket," Utah Head Coach Beth Launiere said. "There was a lot of hard work. That's how we get there in our new conference. It wasn't a small task. We had to put a lot of pieces together to get here."
Utah earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008 after finishing the 2013 regular season 20-12 overall and 9-11 in Pac-12 Conference play, while being listed 26th in the latest RBI.
In 39 years as a varsity program, Utah has been in the NCAA Tournament 11 times in school history, all under Launiere in the past 16 years. The Utes own a 10-10 record in the NCAA Tournament in their previous 10 trips.
Utah's last NCAA Tournament action saw the Utes advance to the Sweet 16 for the second time in school history. Utah traveled to Clemson, S.C., where it swept both Furman and the homestanding Clemson Tigers, before bowing out to Washington in Seattle in the regional semifinal.
Utah finished the regular season in impressive fashion by defeating UCLA for the second time in school history last Friday and it was the Utes' first-ever road victory over the Bruins.
