Utah's junior right-side hitter Shelby Dalton received AVCA All-American Honorable Mention.

SEATTLE - Junior right-side hitter Shelby Dalton of the University of Utah volleyball team earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention status.
"I am so happy for Shelby to receive this honor," Utah Head Coach Beth Launiere said. "She is very deserving and has worked hard throughout her career to improve daily, weekly and yearly.
"We are proud of Shelby. She is a great representative of the University of Utah and the Utah Volleyball Program as an Honorable Mention All-American."
Dalton led the team with 2.62 kills per set this season, finished second on the squad with a .276 hitting percentage (minimum five attack attempts per match). She was third on the team, 12th in the Pac-12 and 128th in the NCAA with 1.10 blocks per set in addition to earning a spot on the Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team.
Dalton had 20 double-digit-kill performances (28 career), including Utah's six of Utah's last eight matches and was also named to the all-tournament teams at the Utah Classic and North Texas Invitational.
The Moab, Utah native hit a career-high 19 kills and tied season-high with six blocks in the season opener against Utah State (8/30). She had a season-high seven blocks at Utah Valley (9/14) and 18 kills to go with six blocks against BYU (9/17). She registered 13 kills and six blocks at California (10/13) and tied her season high with seven blocks at Oregon State (10/18).
Dalton tied career high for the second time with 19 kills on a .468 hitting percentage against Arizona State (10/24). She hit .333 for 10 kills (10-2-24) against No. 3 Washington (11/1) and tied career high with eight blocks against Cal (11/7). Dalton then hit .519 for 16 kills with just two errors on 27 swings to go with seven blocks in Utah's win at Arizona State (11/17). Dalton finished the regular season in impressive fashion by hitting .455 with 12 kills at UCLA (11/29) and then posted 10 kills to go with five blocks and four digs in first round of NCAA Tournament against Yale (12/6).
Over her career, Dalton has 681 kills (2.11 per set) on a .255 hitting percentage and 335 blocks.
Utah finished the season 21-13 overall and tied for seventh in the Pac-12 with a 9-11 mark in league matches. The Utes reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the program's first postseason appearance since 2008.
