Utah Volleyball All-Americans

Eight Utes have earned All-American honors in the 39 years of the program:

Kim Turner

Kim Turner • 2000-03 • Third team (2003)
A 6-2 middle blocker, Turner was among the top players in the country in 2003. She ranked 18th in the nation in blocks per set (1.48) and 31st in hitting percentage (.367). Turner's senior year ended with Co-Mountain West Conference Player of the Year honors for the second year in a row as she led the MWC in hitting percentage (.434) and points per set (5.61). During conference play, she had 231 kills, which set the league's single-season record. Turner ended her four years ranked first in the Utah career record books in kills (1,620), total blocks (670), block assists (589) and is now second in hitting percentage (.324).

Lyndsey Henderson • 2002-04 • Honorable Mention (2004)

Henderson averaged 1.67 blocks per game which ranked second in the conference and eighth nationally. Offensively, she racked up 3.59 kills per game and hit .322 for the season, checking in at third and fifth in the MWC, respectively. The 6-5 middle blocker established herself as one of the team's go-to threats, bagging double-digit kills in 25 of the 30 matches this season. Among that string is a career-best 22 kills in leading Utah to an upset victory over then-No. 6 UCLA. Her list of accolades also included AVCA all-region honors, all-MWC and MWC Player of the Week (Oct. 18).


Shelly Sommerfeldt • 2002-05 • Honorable Mention (2005)
Sommerfeldt wrapped up her 2005 campaign by winning her third all-conference award and began the postseason winning all-MWC Tournament and Tournament MVP accolades. She ranked sixth in the MWC in racking up 3.54 kills per game and hit .229 for the year and was 10th in the league in averaging 2.89 digs in addition to 0.92 blocks.


Whitney Webb • 2004-07 • Third team (2006)
Webb had a breakout season as a junior in 2006 for the Utes, averaging 3.13 kills, 2.67 digs and 1.29 blocks per set. She ranked 63rd in the nation in hitting percentage, and led all MWC outside hitters with a .344 hitting percentage. Webb was a significant factor in helping Utah lead the nation in blocks (3.71 per set) while ranking seventh in hitting percentage (.323). In addition to All-America honors, Webb was also an All-West Region and all-conference selection in 2006. She finished her career with 2.77 kills and 0.99 blocks per set.


Airial Salvo • 2005-06 • Second team (2006)
Salvo, a 6-0 outside hitter, was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Year in 2006, averaging 4.13 kills, 3.35 digs, 0.78 blocks and 0.45 aces per set. She led the Utes and the MWC with 49 aces on the year. Salvo completed her Utah career with 3.73 kills, 0.34 aces, 2.90 kills and 0.83 blocks per set and also had a hitting percentage of .269.  

Emillie Toone • 2004-08 • Honorable Mention (2006, 2008)
Toone earned AVCA Honorable Mention recognition for the second time in her career after ending her career as the most efficient attacker in school history (.345). Toone led the MWC and was 12th in the nation with a school-record .393 hitting percentage, breaking her own record of .369 (set in 2006). She also tied or led Utah in kills six times during 2008. On the block, Toone finished her Ute career second in school history in total blocks (635) and third in block assists (583). Toone finished 2008 third in the conference and 19th nationally with 1.37 blocks per set, while leading or tying for the team lead in blocking during 13 matches this season.

Lori Baird • 2005-08 • Third team (2008)
After having one of the best individual seasons in school history in 2008, Baird was recognized as an AVCA All-West Region selection as well as the Mountain West Conference Co-Player of the Year. Baird finished the season second in the MWC and 16th in the country with 1.39 blocks per set. Baird became the 10th member of Utah's 1,000-kill club and finished her career with the Utes seventh in school history with 1,236 career kills. Baird led the team with 3.05 kills per set, which finished fourth in the MWC. Baird finished her career second in school history with 584 career block assists and third with 631 career total blocks. Baird posted seven career double-doubles, three in 2008, including a school-record 16 block assists to go along with 11 digs in a 3-0 win at BYU.

Shelby Dalton • 2011-Present • Honorable Mention (2013)
Dalton earned AVCA All-American Honorable Mention accolades and first-team all-region honors after leading Utah with a 2.62 kills per set average in 2013. She finished second on the team with a .276 hitting percentage and ranked third on the team (12th in the Pac-12, 128th among NCAA players) with 1.10 blocks per set. She earned second-team honors on the Pac-12 All-Academic Team following her success in the classroom as well.
