After spending 15 seasons as Utah’s Director of Football Operations, Jeff Rudy was promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Football Administration on Feb. 1, 2021. He was then titled Associate Athletics Director for Administration in July of 2021, earning additional responsibilities to serve all of Utah Athletics.
Entering his fourth full year on Utah Athletics’ senior staff, Rudy serves as the co-sport supervisor for football, men’s golf and football sports performance.
Most recently, Rudy has taken on assignments within major gift giving and capital project fund raising to continue Utah’s upward momentum in facilities and student-athlete experience.
He is currently one of the administrative representatives to the United Together Against Hate (U.T.A.H.) group that serves the diverse student-athletes on campus as well as the student-athlete benefits group in charge of better serving the needs of Utah’s current student-athletes. Along with his responsibilities as a senior staff member, Rudy also serves as a mentor to the various sport specific operations directors on campus.
Rudy has been integral in giving Utah a voice at the conference and national levels, having previously served on the Pac-12’s Football Working Group, the Rose Bowl Game Advisory Committee, and the College Football Playoff Advisory Committee. He is also on the advisory board for the College of Health and Science at Southern Utah University.
As director of football operations from 2006-2021, Rudy was involved in virtually every aspect of the football program that occurs outside the sidelines, working closely with head coach Kyle Whittingham on day-to-day logistics, budget management, recruiting, team travel, camps and clinics, marketing and public relations, special functions, conference transition planning, and administrative projects.
Rudy was the point person in the football program for the planning, design, and construction of the Spence & Cleone Eccles Football Center (2013). Rudy also played a critical role with design of the football specific areas in the Ken Garff Red Zone at Rice-Eccles Stadium (2021).
With the Utah Football program, Rudy has been instrumental in playing a key role for the program’s participation in 16 bowl games, including two Rose Bowl appearances, a Sugar Bowl victory, four conference championship games, and three conference titles; including two Pac-12 Conference titles.
Before coming to Utah, Rudy was the athletics director and offensive coordinator at Ontario High School in California from 2003-05. He coached the offensive line at Chaffey College from 2000-03, during which time the team played in the Southern California Bowl three times (2000-02).
From 1998-2000, Rudy coached the offensive line at Bonita High School in LaVerne, Calif., helping the team to the 1999 C.I.F. state championship. In 1997, he was an assistant coach at Cedar High School in Cedar City, Utah.
Rudy graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education with a History minor from Southern Utah University and a Masters of Sport Administration from Upper Iowa University.
The 50-year-old native of Ontario, California, and his wife Brandie have a son, Dalton, and two daughters, Peyton and Kayton.
