SALT LAKE CITY – Three different pre-season tournaments, 14 home matches and a total of 16 televised matches highlight Utah volleyball's 2017 season schedule, which was finalized this week.
"The overall schedule reflects our confidence heading into the 2017 season," said Utah head coach
Beth Launiere. "We are playing five perennial top-25 teams before hitting what is an always tough Pac-12 Conference schedule. We feel prepared enough as a team to play a schedule this strong and believe it will prepare us well for conference play. It should also help us in pursuit of our post season goals."

Utah will open the 2017 campaign with three in-season tournaments, which includes heading to Lexington, Ky., for the Bluegrass Battle (Aug. 25-26), Honolulu, Hawaii, for the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic (Aug. 31-Sept. 3) and hosting the Utah Volleyball Classic (Sept. 8-9).

The Utes will open the 2017 campaign taking on Cincinnati (Aug. 25), Kentucky (Aug. 25) and Arkansas State (Aug. 26) in the Bluegrass Battle. Utah's match against Kentucky will be televised on the SEC Network.

Utah then heads to Honolulu to face South Dakota (Aug. 31), Western Carolina (Sept. 1) and Hawaii (Sept. 3), before returning to Salt Lake City to for its home-opener. Utah opens the home schedule hosting the 2017 Utah Volleyball Classic and will face the likes of San Diego (Sept. 8), Wisconsin-Green Bay (Sept. 9) and Missouri (Sept. 9).

The Utes will then close out non-conference play a week later, hosting BYU (Sept. 14) and then heading to Orem to face Utah Valley (Sept. 15). The Utes and Wolverines will match-up for the first time since 2014, while its match with BYU will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.

Utah's non-conference schedule includes competing against five teams that finished in the final AVCA Top-25 Poll last season – Kentucky (No. 23), Hawaii (No. 17), San Diego (No. 22), Missouri (No. 16) and BYU (No. 8). Â

Utah will have the luxury of opening its rigorous Pac-12 schedule at home, hosting Colorado (Sept. 22) and California (Sept. 24) during the first weekend of conference play. The Utes will remain at home the following week to host Oregon (Sept. 29) and Oregon State (Sept. 30).

The Utes hit the road for the first time in Pac-12 play when they head to the Pacific Northwest to play Washington (Oct. 6) and Washington State (Oct. 8). Road play will continue the following week as the Utes head to the desert to face Arizona (Oct. 13) and Arizona State (Oct. 15).

The remainder of the schedule sets up home and away matches every other week for the Utes. Following home dates against UCLA (Oct. 20) and USC (Oct. 22), the Utes will then head to Oregon (Oct. 25) and Oregon State (Oct. 27). Utah then returns back home to host Washington State (Nov. 2) and Washington (Nov. 4), but will head to So-Cal the following week to face both Los Angeles-bases squads – USC (Nov. 9) and UCLA (Nov. 12).

The final two weeks of the regular-season include home matches against Arizona State (Nov. 17) and Arizona (Nov. 18), along with road dates at Stanford (Nov. 22) and then Colorado (Nov. 25).

Utah will have 14 of its 20 Pac-12 Conference matches televised on the Pac-12 Network this season. The Utes will play on television for six straight games from Sept. 22 (Colorado) through Oct. 8 (at Washington State). Remaining televised matches will include: at ASU (Oct. 15), UCLA (Oct. 20), USC (Oct. 22), at Oregon (Oct. 25), at USC (Nov. 9), ASU (Nov. 17), at Stanford (Nov. 22) and at Colorado (Nov. 25).

"We are excited to be on the Pac-12 Network 15 times this coming season, which is the most ever since the network started televising events," said Launiere. "We believe our team will be very exciting to watch this season and we are excited that our fans will have the opportunity to follow the majority of our conference matches."

Utah Volleyball fans can get an up-close look at the team prior to the regular season, when the team hosts its annual Red/White Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 19. The match will begin at 2 p.m. inside the Jon M. Huntsman Center.

Along with senior All-American
Adora Anae, the Utes return a total of nine letterwinners from last season's team that went 20-12 overall and earned an at-large bid to the 2016 NCAA Volleyball Championship Tournament. In addition to one returning redshirt freshman, Utah will also welcome a total of eight newcomers to the 2017 squad, which includes seven incoming freshmen and one junior college transfer.
